What we do

FAIR staff provide support across Edinburgh. It is for adults and children with a learning disability, their carers and family they live with.

Advice and information

Getting the right benefits and the support you need can be difficult. Our advice includes a Welfare Rights service.  The support our Advice Workers can provide includes:

  • a full benefit check
  • filling out forms and claiming benefits
  • challenging decisions
  • representation at benefit appeals and tribunals
  • support through assessment processes
  • support at meetings
  • claiming passported benefits
  • applying for a grant, goods or services.
  • support to complete a budget to manage money
  • information about money advice and debt
  • support to complete an Adult Carer Support Plan
  • support to open a bank or savings account.

Positive mental and physical health promotion

People with learning disabilities and their carers can have poorer health and face social isolation. Our FAIR & Well service provides social opportunities for people to come together and attend day trips. Please see our Latest News page for more information.

Co-production and consultation

FAIR work with key partners to consult with and advocate for people with learning disabilities and their carers. We have also worked to support other organisations to evaluate and consult about their work and documents.

FAIR Newsletter

We produce a newsletter every 2 months. We try and add information we feel is important and also include social events. Please get in touch if you have something you would like us to include. The latest newsletter can be found on the Latest News page.

Easy Read design service

We develop and design Easy Read information. This can be our own work or worked on for other organisations. Please see our Easy Read page for more information.
